Collection: MARCUS PAUS composer
Marcus Paus is one of Norway’s most sought-after composers, and to date has fulfilled more than 50 commissions. His extensive catalogue includes chamber works, solo works, songs, choral works, a symphony, concertos and other orchestral works, and several operas, as well as works for film, stage and television. Paus’s music has been lauded for its expressivity and craftsmanship. Several of his works have been recorded. These include his Hate Songs, featured on the album Portraying Passion by Tora Augestad and the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra under Christian Eggen, which won the Norwegian Grammy for best classical album in 2018, his Concerto for Timpani & Orchestra with Håkon Kartveit, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra under Andrew Litton, and his Sonata for Cello & Piano. Paus’s affinity for the written word continues to be a major feature of his output, prominently displayed on En hellig, alminnelig lek («A Sacred, Ordinary Game», setting to music the poetry of Norwegian poet André Bjerke). Paus’s score for André Øvredal’s Mortal will be in cinemas worldwide in 2020. Paus was named Composer of the Year 2016 by the Norwegian Publishers’ Association and was awarded the Wessel Cultural Prize in 2012.
