Kim André Arnesen is one of the most performed contemporary choral composers in the world today. He was educated at NTNU’s Department of Music in Trondheim. In recent years, he has established himself in the choral music scene with performances in over 50 countries. The first recording with his music was produced in 2014 by 2L. This album contained his first major work, Magnificat. In 2018, a new CD with a collection of his choral works was released by Naxos. The release made 2nd place in the best-selling classical albums on iTunes and 6th place in the classical billboard lists. In 2017, he was invited to the New York premiere of his Requiem in Carnegie Hall. “The Wound in the Water” was a commissioned piece for the St. Olav Festival’s opening concert in 2016, and “The Stranger” commissioned by the Together In Hope Project for a premiere at the same festival in 2022. Arnesen’s “Holy Spirit Mass” premiered in Washington in 2017. This works became his debut album on Decca Classics. In December 2020, Decca released Arnesen’s first album with his own piano compositions. One of these pieces made 1st place of Apple Music’s classical recordings.
