Collection: STÅLE KLEIBERG composer

Ståle Kleiberg is a major Norwegian composer with a considerable international reputation. His music is widely performed, and there are many published recordings, including nine albums that have received outstanding international reviews. 

Kleiberg’s music is characterized by a distinctive form of extended tonality and by meticulous attention to coloristic details. This is especially the case in his orchestral works, including the two concertos issued on the Grammy-nominated 2L album Treble & Bass: Concertos Ståle Kleiberg. Kleiberg’s works in oratorio and opera format constitute an important part of his output. Mass for Modern Man was premiered in 2015, later recorded by 2L, who published the album in 2017. David and Bathsheba was also highly acclaimed after its première, and it has subsequently been performed in many countries. 2L’s recording of this work was nominated for a Grammy in the category Best Opera Recording. Requiem – for the victims of Nazi persecution was performed in Washington National Cathedral on 11 September 2004, and has since been given many international performances. 

Kleiberg’s innovatory approach, formal command and technical mastery are particularly apparent in his chamber music oeuvre. A selection of six chamber works was featured in 2015 on the album: Mezzotints – Chamber Music by Ståle Kleiberg, followed by the 2019 album Do You Believe in Heather? – Chamber Music by Ståle Kleiberg.
