Carl Høgset is the founding conductor of Grex Vocalis. For 40 years he has educated and inspired more than 300 singers. Three new pieces was recorded in their 2011 aniversary season: "Normally we conclude our concerts with An Irish Blessing, and many of our listeners have approached us for a recording of this piece. The German composer Heinrich Poos has written Auferstehn to beautiful words by Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock (1724–1803). I want this piece to be sung at my funeral. In 1974 the Norwegian composer Sverre Bergh (1915–80) wrote a piece to words by Dylan Thomas (1914–53). And Death Shall Have No Dominion is one of my favourite pieces. I’ve performed it many times with Grex Vocalis, but also with the Norwegian Youth Choir. My interpretation of the poem is that no matter what is done to us, Humanity shall survive. For many years we’ve wished to record this piece." - Carl Høgset 2011
Dylan Thomas' poem from 1933 is now more present than ever ...
